Ending the year on a high at Air Cycle Technology

2018 has been a busy and exciting time for all of us at ACT.  We’ve started manufacturing our turbo-expanders, we’ve commissioned our state-of-the-art test cell and we’ve worked with a range of fantastic partners to develop and grow our business.

In the first half of the year, we were enthusiastic members of “Wave 1” of the Technology Developer Accelerator Programme or TDAP for short.  This grand sounding project was financed and run by the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC)

and is a great scheme to help small and medium sized companies (SMEs) in the automotive sector to accelerate their business growth.  We found it really helpful in developing and refining our business strategy and putting in place processes and procedures to underpin our future growth.  We would like to thank all the team at the APC for their friendly and constructive approach.

We commissioned the production area in our factory and assembled our first batch of series production turbo-expanders

and were very pleased with the support and service we received from all the companies in our supply chain.

Our main infrastructure project was the design, build, installation and commissioning of our test cell.

This will be used for testing new turbo-expanders before they leave our factory and to support our ongoing R&D programme, including durability and performance testing.

The year has been rounded off with another fantastic project, this time supported by the Niche Vehicle Network (NVN).

It is called Production Readiness and is designed to help SMEs move their product from small scale operation to a full state of “production readiness”.  It encompasses product design and optimisation, design for manufacture, supply chain development and a full R&D programme on a vehicle – in our case a Ford Focus ST.  We are very fortunate to have Revolve Technologies and Hanon Systems as our partners in this exciting project.  Revolve have a long history of engineering development activity with Ford and Hanon Systems supply intercoolers to many of the leading vehicle manufacturers.

2019 promises to be another exciting year.  We aim to be supplying our newly developed Active Charge Air Cooling system as soon as the NVN Production Readiness Project is completed and we are actively looking for dealers, tuners and stockists for our systems.  If you would be interested in stocking and/or fitting our systems, please get in touch.

Finally, we wish all of our partners, customers, suppliers, funders and friends a very merry Christmas and a happy and successful New Year.
